PCT Module-3 Done!

Tactics Module-3 is complete! I will now do a massive, "once-through" review of CTB and Modules 1 & 2. I will also likely play through several master games, do some endgame study, run through a few hundred CTS problems, modestly retool my opening book in CPT, and spend some time playing at PlayChess before moving on to Module-4 in a couple of weeks. Then the cycle will begin anew...

Wow. Heavy volume training! How do the tactics in PCT compare with CTB?

Hey Blue Devil,

I estimate that since I started a year+ ago I've run through somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-120K tactical problems...or about 5,000 different problems 20-25x each. In answer to your question, PCT's range of problems is broader (and larger) than CTB's. Module-1 was Mates in 1, 2, 3 and 4; Module-2 was 1 and 2-move material winning problems, some drawing problems, and some Mates in 2, 3 and 4; Module-3 was 2 and 3-move material winning problems and mates in 4, 5, and 6. There are still three more modules to go. I've found that one of the best parts of PCT is the way that each module builds on the previous ones...in other words, you might see a mate in 2 in module-1 that you later see two moves earlier as a mate in 4 in module-2 and then two moves earlier again as a mate in 6 in module-3.
